This is Peep, an American Barbados
Blackbelly sheep, who we got in March, 2002 at approx. 3 wks old.
Somehow she got separated from her momma and was found wandering around on
someone's residential property. They were going to keep her as a pet,
however, after a few days of experiencing the joys of bottle feeding a baby
sheep they discovered it wasn't all it's cracked up to be and they called
us to take her in. How they found me I have no idea - guess it must
be that neon 'sucker' sign on my forehead!
And this is Peep
at approx. 5 mo old, taken in July, 2002. She loves to lay in the
wading pool, but only if there isn't any water in there - go figure!
Meet Bo (or Tripod as he's affectionately
known)........who is also an American Barbados Blackbelly sheep that came
to live with us in May, 2003 at 4 months of age. His first night
here he tried jumping the fence and ended up getting his back leg caught
in one of the wires, which resulted in a really nasty compound fracture.
Of course, it had to be Memorial Day and that meant none of the local
vet's offices were open, so I had to take him to Texas A&M about 2.5
hours away. Well, one week and $700.00 later we got a 3-legged sheep
back....<sigh> Luckily, it didn't slow him down any and he gets
around pretty well on just three legs - and as you'll see below, he was even
able to become a father - who'd have thought that was possible!
Our new babies are here - oh
boy(s)! These two cuties are Pip and Squeak, twin boys born on 3/14/04.
